VisionLabs
Today, as technology advances in seven steps, the field of machine learning is more relevant than ever. Without machine training, we wouldn't have been able to unlock our phones with our voice or the look that was thrown at the device. The latter is exactly what the employees of VisionLabs - a company that is part of the Skolkovo innovation center - are working on. Their main task is to create products that are tied to face recognition. At the moment the company has two major projects: Luna Platform and Luna SDK. But about everything in order. Luna Platform is a biometric data management system. With its help, you can solve a variety of tasks: for example, to identify employees of the office or recognize bank customers. This system is able to detect faces, store them in a database, group them, identify different characteristics (e.g. gender, age or mood) and compare them with each other.
The company's services are already being used by serious enterprises, including Tinkoff Bank and Sberbank: each of these banks is implementing face recognition technology in their ATMs. Also in cooperation with VisionLabs in Russia there is the first service that allows you to pay with a self-portrait (selfi). In addition, in April last year Visa introduced to the public the technology of payment, in which a person does not even need a phone anymore - just his face and the appropriate terminal for payment. It seems that very soon, thanks to machine learning in general and the efforts of VisionLabs in particular, not only the world of cash, but also credit cards can go flying. By the way, the company has another product called Luna SDK. It is a facial recognition and analysis system, which can run on various operating systems. Luna SDK includes several modules, each of which is responsible for a specific set of tasks.
One contains facial detection functions, while the other allows you to distinguish a person's real face from a photo or video, so that attackers can't fool the system by slipping someone a photo or video. The technologies used by VisionLabs have the widest range of applications: for example, they can be used for boarding passengers on trains or planes, for access control, online check-in and so on. One of the many possible application scenarios for VisionLabs is to protect vehicles from theft, when access to the vehicle is possible only if the biometric data match. Also face recognition technology fits perfectly into the idea of a smart city, where everything is filled with neural networks. For example, it could be used to apprehend suspects much faster and to check alibis much more effectively. VisionLabs solutions can also benefit retailers, where you need to deal with a large audience.
