Artificial intelligence (AI) in medical institutions in Moscow has begun to additionally analyze CT scans of the chest organs for signs of aortic aneurysm, which are received by the Unified Radiological Information Service (ERIS) EMIAS. Neural networks were able to identify pathology in 22 residents of the capital, which were confirmed after additional examination. The system is primarily designed to identify dangerous pathology in patients in a timely manner and begin treatment. this was told by the vice-mayor of the city Anastasia Rakova. Her words are quoted by the press service of the Moscow government.

"For example, if a patient did a CT scan of the lungs to diagnose pneumonia, then smart algorithms additionally check him for signs of an aortic aneurysm. I would like to emphasize that neural networks process all CT scans of the chest organs that are sent to the digital cloud of the Moscow healthcare system - these are thousands of studies every week. If the algorithms detect signs of pathology, the images are sent to specialists for further analysis. In case of confirmation of deviations, the doctor proactively contacts the patient and invites him for an additional examination," said Rakova.

According to her, after the pathologies are detected, patients can continue to be under the control of a special working group of experienced cardiovascular surgeons of the N.V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine.

Recall that artificial intelligence services detect not only aortic aneurysm. In total, at the moment about 40 services help radiologists in 15 research areas.
