A plant monitoring system, which with the help of a neural network will help predict the development of pest plants, was developed in Altai. This was done by scientists of AltSU (Altai State University – approx. editors) together with Yandex Cloud. This is reported in the press service of the latter.

"The machine learning algorithm predicts the spread of plants on the territory specified by the user in the system. In addition to scientific monitoring, the system is able to help solve the problems of agricultural producers. Due to the contamination of crops in Russia, about 17% of the grain harvest is lost annually. With the help of the new system, farmers will be able to more accurately predict the spread of pest plants of each individual species. This will allow determining the best places and the exact area for crops, as well as planning methods of harvesting and tillage," the report says.

The system is deployed on the Yandex Cloud Cloud platform. It predicts the spread of plants based on several types of data - information about the points of presence of this species, climate, humidity and soil type. The user can enter the name of the plant into the system, upload a data block, the request will be processed by neural networks. As a result, you will get graphs and detailed maps with a forecast.

Scientists believe that the development will be in demand in the markets of the agrobioindustry, health saving and environmental protection.
