Agrarians in Russia will soon be able to monitor the health of fruit trees, detect diseases and determine treatment methods using gadgets.

Special software is now being developed by a student of the engineering institute of Michurin State Agrarian University together with a teacher of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology.

Scientists have created an algorithm, which can be used to determine whether a tree is formed correctly. For this purpose, the gadget compares the image of the plant with photos of diseases of fruit crops. Now there is already more than 3 thousand pictures in such a photobase.

With the help of the program in the future it will be possible to assess the state of the tree and get tips on how to take care of it. For example, the application can analyze the formation of the crown, notice problem areas, identify diseases and tell about the methods of treatment.

It is expected that such development will significantly simplify and make cheaper the procedure of diagnostics in gardens. Next year, the programme is likely to be introduced in orchards.
